About Kaz Dube
Meet Your Guide
Kazimai Dube, widely known as Kaz, is a full-time professional guide in Zimbabwe. Born and raised in Hwange town, just outside Hwange National Park and about 100km from Victoria Falls, Kaz has a deep connection to the wildlife and landscapes he now shares with guests from around the world.
“A professional guide in Zimbabwe holds a prestigious status—it’s an honor,” says Kaz. “I love people and wildlife, which is why I chose this path. Guiding brings people on safari into the heart of the wilderness, creating a connection with wild animals in their natural environment.”
Kaz’s journey to becoming a professional guide was anything but easy. After obtaining his Learner Professional Guide License in October 2000, he spent five years actively seeking an apprenticeship and training opportunity. His breakthrough came in 2006, leading to four years of intensive practical training in Mana Pools National Park. He completed his qualification in 2010, earning the distinction of “Best Guide at Proficiency” during his exams.
As the founder and owner of Great Guide Safaris, Kaz is also a passionate conservationist. He collaborates with local communities to improve livelihoods, using tourism revenue to support sustainable farming projects.
Kaz lives in Bulawayo with his wife and their four children but often visits his rural homestead in Jambezi, near Victoria Falls. A passionate storyteller, he enjoys traveling to the United States and Europe to share tales of Zimbabwe’s incredible wildlife and promote safaris in his homeland.
